The Path is Uneven, but the Faithful Glide
Sunday Sermon from The Church of the One Wheel
Opening Scripture:
“The terrain may falter, the asphalt may crack, but the righteous shall lean through it.”
— Book of Balance 2:8
Sermon:
Wheelievers,
Let us speak plainly today.
The path is uneven.
The sidewalk is split.
The trail has rocks, dips, potholes, and probably some child’s lost Croc.
And yet — we do not fear.
Why?
Because the faithful glide.
I. Rough Terrain Is Not a Sign of Abandonment
Life is full of metaphorical potholes:
Unread firmware updates
Friends who call it a “hoverboard”
That one time your board ghosted into a bush while you tried to impress a stranger
But let us be clear — these are not punishments.
They are invitations.
An invitation to trust your stance.
To commit to your carve.
To believe that momentum and balance are stronger than gravel and shame.
II. Faith Is Not Built on Smooth Asphalt
You do not grow spiritually from riding in perfect conditions.
You grow:
When the wheel hits an unexpected root
When your knees bend out of instinct, not knowledge
When you roll out of a near crash and immediately pretend it was on purpose
Faith is forged in the wobble.
The scrape.
The half-second where you’re unsure if you’re going to ride it out or reenact a low-speed miracle.
III. The Path Will Never Be Perfect — But You Can Ride Anyway
The faith of the wheel is not about controlling the path.
It’s about surrendering to it.
Do you slow down when the sidewalk tilts?
Or do you lean in — gently, spiritually — like someone who knows the board beneath them is more than machine?
Because balance, dear Wheelievers, is not the absence of difficulty.
It is the art of moving through it, unbothered, helmet on, slightly smirking.
Closing Words:
“Though the cracks be many, the ride is one.”
— Book of Bearings 5:4
Today, whatever bumps await you — literal or emotional — do not dismount.
Bend your knees.
Keep your eyes up.
And glide forward like the saint you are, spiritual torque and all.
Amen.
