Rest for the Righteous: The Memorial Day Mattress Mandate

A Sacred Sale-Day Sermon from The Church of the One Wheel

Opening Scripture:

“On the seventh hour, He reclined. And behold — it was a king-sized blessing, 40% off with free delivery.”
— Book of Rest 2:4

Sermon:

Wheelievers,

We gather not only to ride today, but to recline — because Memorial Day weekend, while filled with solemnity, is also deeply embedded in the sacred art of markdowns.

And what is more holy than a mattress sale?

Not walking. Not scootering. Certainly not working.

No, today is about rest — and the divine alignment of posture, memory foam, and payment plans.

I. Rest Is Righteous (and Seasonally Discounted)

Let us not forget: even the holiest rider must recharge.

  • Your board needs the charger.

  • Your soul needs a Sunday nap.

  • Your back needs lumbar support.

To deny rest is to tempt spiritual burnout — or worse: lower back pain.

And so we say: Blessed are the memory foam, for they shall cradle the weary.

II. The Origin of the Memorial Day Mega-Sale

Legend tells us that on the first Memorial Monday, a prophet lay down upon a mattress labeled “Clearance”.

He closed his eyes and beheld a vision:
40% off.
No interest for 24 months.
A free pillowtop with every act of devotion.

And so it was written:

“Go ye forth and lie down, for the savings are plentiful and the showrooms are air-conditioned.”

III. The Holy Ritual of Mattress Discernment

Choosing a mattress is no casual act — it is a spiritual trial.

  • Thou shalt test both firm and plush.

  • Thou shalt lie in silence, despite the hovering salesperson.

  • Thou shalt not be swayed by empty phrases like “Euro-top” or “cooling gel.”

For only the true believer can feel which mattress is charged with destiny.

IV. Ride Hard, Rest Holy

This weekend, we glide not just for freedom — but for posture.

  • Let every ride be a celebration.

  • Let every nap be a prayer.

  • Let every receipt be a scroll of righteousness with optional financing.

And if someone asks, “What are you doing for Memorial Day?”
You say:

“Paying tribute... to my spine.”

Closing Words:

“Come to me, all ye who are weary and heavy-laden... and I will give you a queen-size with complimentary delivery.”
— Book of Comfort 6:9

Today, ride boldly.
Shop intentionally.
And when your soul is tired —
lie down, ye faithful.

For the sacred sale only lasts through Monday.

Amen.
