Charging Stations: Our Modern Temples
As spoken by Friar Logan of the 100% Charge, Keeper of the Overnight Monastery (Lot B)
Opening Words:
“For where two or more are gathered near an outlet, there is power also.”
Brothers. Sisters. Riders of the electric path.
Today we gather to speak of sanctuaries.
Not stone cathedrals.
Not ancient temples of forgotten gods.
But humble, glowing oases scattered across this vast land…
Charging Stations.
Our Modern Temples.
I. The Sacred Need for Power
Let us not lie to ourselves.
We are creatures of energy.
We require charge, both literal and spiritual.
Some may mock us. They say:
"Your board is useless without power."
But what fool mocks the tree for needing sun?
Or the ocean for needing tide?
Power is not weakness.
Power is connection.
And so we journey to the glowing altar — the humble charging station — and we wait.
II. Rituals of the Temple
Every charging station is a place of ritual.
Observe the faithful:
The Checking of Ports
The Whispered Curse at Broken Outlets
The Sacred Untangling of Cords
The Silent Nod to a Fellow Rider Plugging In
Do not disturb these acts.
For here, beneath the humming neon sign or beside the single working wall socket at the coffee shop, a holy thing is happening:
Patience.
Reflection.
Community.
III. Lessons from the Slow Charge
Fast chargers are a blessing.
But beware the impatience of rapid energy.
A slow charge teaches humility.
It forces us to pause.
Perhaps you will meet another rider.
Perhaps you will sit and contemplate the road ahead.
Perhaps you will finally delete those 97 crash videos from your phone.
These moments are not wasted.
They are sacred.
IV. The Call to Build Temples
Let us not hoard power.
If you own a home, may your garage be open to the tired traveler.
If you visit a park, may you share the USB-C like bread and wine.
If you run a business, may you install an outlet not for profit, but for peace.
“For I was low battery, and you gave me charge.”
— Book of Balance, 4:20v
Closing Blessing:
Ride fully charged.
But when the battery wanes…
Do not despair.
The path will lead you to power.
The temple will find you.
The faithful will share their wattage.
And when your board lights once more —
Give thanks.
And ride on.
Amen.
