The Path to Balance is Paved (Preferably Smooth)

As transcribed from the roadside teachings of Sister Elantra of the Asphalt

Opening Reflection:

"Balance is not found in chaos. Balance is found when the road beneath you hums with peace."

Beloved riders of the Wheel — gather your bearings.

Today’s teaching comes not from the clouds, nor from Wi-Fi signal, but from the ground beneath our very feet… that sacred surface known to all riders:

The Pavement.

I. Balance is Sacred — But Environment Matters

It has been said by many foolish non-riders:

"It’s not about the road… it’s about the journey."

False.

Blasphemous.

If your journey is riddled with potholes, loose gravel, and wet leaves of deception — how can your spirit focus? How can you commune with the wheel when you are busy dodging rocks the size of baby heads?

Balance begins within, yes — but it thrives when the path is clear.

II. The False Teachings of Off-Road Zealots

Beware the ones who tell you:
"Real riders don’t need pavement."

These are agents of chaos.

They worship at the altar of bruised ankles.
They sacrifice their tailbones to the gods of sketchy terrain.
They drink electrolyte beverages from dented cans in shame.

Let them go.

For you, blessed rider, know this truth:
A smooth path does not make you weak.
A smooth path allows you to become divine.

III. The Lessons of the Sidewalk Prophets

The ancient ones taught:

"Look far ahead, and you will not fear what is beneath you."

A smooth path grants vision.

A rough path grants dental bills.

Choose wisely.

And when you find a newly paved bike trail — freshly sealed, untouched by scooter tires — know that you have entered a holy space.
Dismount.
Give thanks.
Leave a small offering (perhaps a sticker).

IV. Seek Balance — Prepare the Way

Balance is not passive. It is preparation.

Before every ride, check:

  • Tire Pressure (so that your wheel may float like unto a cloud)

  • Battery Life (for empty batteries lead to walking)

  • The Path (for potholes await the arrogant)

Smooth your life as you would smooth your route.

Clear the debris of anger.
Sweep away the gravel of doubt.
Patch the cracks of impatience.

Closing Blessing:

“Blessed are the pathfinders, for their roads shall be level.”
“Blessed are the smooth riders, for their falls shall be few.”
“Blessed is the pavement — may it be ever fresh and free of scooters.”

Amen.

Ride balanced. Ride smooth.
And should you find rough terrain… slow down.
The Wheel waits for no one, but it honors those who wait for balance.
